Election Day is on October 14th 2008, from 9:30am to 9:30pm.
You may also vote in Advance of Election Day on Friday October 3rd, Saturday October 4th and Monday October 5th from 12:00 – 8:00PM.
To find out where you can vote – contact our office or visit www.elections.ca – enter your postal code under “Voter Information Service”
If you are unable to vote on Election Day or during the Advance Polls – you may vote by special ballot. You can register for a special ballot through the local Elections Canada Returning Office (1-866-281-5086). You must register for your special ballot by October 7th at 6pm.
Voter Identification
Don’t forget, when you come out to vote you must prove your identity and address. Please note that your voter card is not a valid form of identification. There are three options to do this:
You can show one piece of identification issued by the government or by a government agency (ex. driver’s license) which contains your name, address and signature. Or;
If you do not have a piece of identification which contains your name, address and signature, you can provide two pieces of identification. Please note that one piece of identification must contain your name and signature and the other must contain your name and address. Please refer to Elections Canada for a full list of possible documents. Or;
If you do not have identification which falls under either option, you can still vote. In order to vote you must swear an oath and be vouched for by a registered voting. That individual must be able to provide an accepted piece(s) of identification in order to vouch for you.
For more information refer to the Elections Canada website.
Getting on the Voters List
If you have not received your voter information card from Elections Canada, you can get on the voter’s list by either:
Going to the local Elections Canada Returning Office with proof of identity and residency before October 7th, or
You can register during the Advance Polls or on Election Day, again with proof of identity and residency.
